Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Alhassan Tampuli, has stressed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains a truly national political party and not one built on ethnic or religious lines.
According to him, the NPP’s philosophy, leadership structure and electoral record clearly demonstrate a broad national character that cuts across all regions, faiths and ethnic groupings in Ghana.
He said attempts to label the party as representing only certain groups are inaccurate and politically motivated.

Hon. Tampuli explained that the party has, over the years, drawn support, membership and leadership from every part of the country, including the north and south, Christians and Muslims, and diverse ethnic communities.
He noted that the NPP’s policies are designed to address national development challenges rather than sectional interests.
He further indicated that the party’s internal democratic processes allow people from different backgrounds to rise through the ranks based on competence, commitment and service, not ethnicity or religion.
This, he said, is evident in the composition of the party’s parliamentary caucus, national executives and government appointments when in office.
The Gushegu MP urged party members and the general public to reject narratives that seek to divide Ghanaians along ethnic or religious lines for political gain.
He stressed that national unity remains essential for Ghana’s progress and democratic stability.
Mr. Tampuli reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to inclusive politics, respect for diversity and the pursuit of development policies that benefit all Ghanaians, regardless of background.
