The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the initiation of processes to expel Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng from the Party following comments he made during an interview on Channel One TV on Monday, January 12, 2026. In the interview, Prof. Frimpong Boateng described the NPP as a “fake party” and stated that he no longer considers himself a member.
He also alleged, among other claims, that the Party’s 2023 Presidential Primary was rigged in favor of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate.
The Party firmly rejected these assertions, describing them as baseless, unsubstantiated, and inimical to the Party’s values, unity, and integrity.

Invoking provisions of its Constitution, the Party confirmed that due process has been followed in commencing the expulsion procedures. The announcement was signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP.
