The Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Education Service (GES), has pledged to complete a state-of-the-art Robotic Engineering Laboratory for Mfantsipim School by the first quarter of 2026.

According to the GES, major works such as painting, installation of burglar-proof systems, and initial setup of gadgets and kits to house engineering equipment have already been completed. Over 70 per cent of the imported equipment has arrived and is with the contractor, while the remaining 30 per cent is expected by the end of the year.

Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director General of the GES and an old boy of the school, said the Robotics Lab would further strengthen Mfantsipim’s tradition of academic excellence and innovation.

Speaking at the school’s 149th Speech and Prize-Giving Day, held under the theme “Hɛn Nananom Botae Pa: 149 Years of Sustaining Legacy, Building Excellence,” Prof. Davis noted that the facility would deepen Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education by providing students with hands-on learning in robotics, AI, and automation.

He added that alongside four similar laboratories being established nationwide, the Mfantsipim lab would prepare students for future careers in technology, innovation, and engineering.

Prof. Davis also urged school authorities to uphold professionalism, discipline, and strong moral values that had shaped generations of “Mfantsipim products,” including national figures like Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, Mr Kofi Annan, Dr Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Mr Kow Nkensen Arkaah, and Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

Mr Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo, Headmaster of Mfantsipim School, expressed gratitude to God and stakeholders for sustaining the school’s legacy for nearly 150 years.

Describing the institution as “a citadel of character, intellect and excellence,” he highlighted the school’s achievements in academics, sports, and discipline—particularly celebrating the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz victory as proof of their enduring commitment to excellence.

Mr Aidoo called on students to wear their uniforms with pride and purpose, reminding them that “the Mfantsipim uniform symbolises a calling, not just attire.”

As the school prepares to mark its 150th anniversary in 2026, he urged unity among all stakeholders to ensure a fitting celebration, while thanking the Methodist Church Ghana, alumni, and parents for their continuous support, including contributions toward essential utilities.

Outstanding students, teachers, and staff were honoured with cash and material awards for their exceptional service and achievements.
