The Northern Regional Police Command has made a major breakthrough in a kidnapping case after rescuing a 42-year-old man abducted at Wapuli in the Yendi District and arresting three members of the alleged syndicate behind the crime.
The suspects, identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi and Osman Bandi, were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation in Bokpaba, a village along the Bimbilla,Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.

Police report that the group, made up of four individuals, had demanded a GH₵100,000 ransom from the victim’s family as the price for his release.
Following the initial report, a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) was dispatched to Wapuli on a mission that combined surveillance, rescue and arrest.
The operation reached its peak on Friday, December 5, 2025, when officers engaged the suspects in an intense gunfire exchange that ended with the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest of the three men.
All arrested suspects are currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before court.
The fourth suspect, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation, remains at large. Police are urging the public to provide any relevant information that could support efforts to track him down.
