Ghana Education Service Announces Recruitment of 48,000 Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced plans to recruit 48,000 teaching and non-teaching staff as part of efforts to strengthen manpower across public educational institutions nationwide.

According to a statement issued from the GES Headquarters and dated 19 January 2026, the recruitment exercise is intended to support effective teaching, administration, and service delivery within the public education system.

The move comes at a time when many schools continue to face staffing gaps, particularly in underserved communities.

The statement outlines that applicants are expected to apply through official GES recruitment platforms and provide relevant documentation, including national identification, educational certificates, national service records, and contact details to facilitate processing, posting, and placement.

GES management stressed that the recruitment process will be guided by established procedures and transparency, urging applicants to ensure the accuracy of all submitted information.

The Service also reiterated that misrepresentation or attempts to bypass due process could lead to disqualification.

The notice was signed by Dr. Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah, Director of Human Resource Operations at the Ghana Education Service, and copied to key officials, including the GES Council, Deputy Directors-General, the Financial Controller, and the Chief Internal Auditor.

However, education sector observers have urged prospective applicants to exercise caution, noting that recruitment exercises by public institutions are frequently exploited by fraudsters.

Applicants are therefore advised to verify all announcements through official GES and Ministry of Education communication channels before submitting personal information.

If implemented transparently, the recruitment is expected to significantly boost staffing levels and improve learning outcomes across Ghana’s public schools.
