**Kwabena Agyepong campaign dismisses false claims that Akufo-Addo asked NPP aspirants to step aside for Bawumia** The Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (KAA) 2028 Campaign has refuted reports by Apex News Africa and Opera News alleging that Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong claimed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo asked New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants to step aside for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. In a statement signed by Nana Ama Asantewaa Kwarko, spokesperson for the campaign, the team described the publication as “completely false and without basis,” stressing that Ing. Agyepong “made no such comment.” The statement clarified that during a recent media interaction, Ing. Agyepong only confirmed that a meeting took place between President Akufo-Addo and all aspirants, but emphasized that it was an *in camera* session. Out of respect for confidentiality, he declined to reveal what was discussed. “At no point did he suggest that the President attempted to influence the internal contest or endorse any individual candidate. Any suggestion to that effect is a deliberate misrepresentation and an affront to journalistic integrity,” the statement read. The campaign reaffirmed its commitment to restoring integrity, discipline, and meritocracy within the NPP and urged the public to disregard the fabricated report while calling on media houses to uphold accuracy and responsibility in their reportage.
