The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has completed arrangements for the promotion of qualified staff from the Deputy Director rank to the higher positions of Director II and Director I.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Service, GES explained that a committee made up of representatives from the Ghana Education Service, the Public Services Commission, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and PricewaterhouseCoopers has submitted its final report to Management.
According to the statement, the process was informed by extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including significant reviews and inputs from the various teacher unions.

Management indicated that the first call for applications, together with an aptitude test for promotion to the Director II and Director I ranks, is expected to be announced by the end of the first quarter of the year.
The GES further announced a major policy shift, stating that promotion to these ranks will no longer depend on the availability of limited office vacancies, as was previously the case.
This move, the Service noted, is in line with the commitment made by President John Dramani Mahama to teachers.
GES assured teachers that further details and comprehensive guidelines on the promotion process will be communicated in due course through official Service channels only.
