Police investigations led to the arrest of Rashida Yusif, who was found in possession of an iPhone 7 Plus belonging to one of the victims. Further intelligence tracing linked the phone to a mobile phone shop at Dagomba Line in Salaga, resulting in the arrest of Aaron Abana Baswiefanga and subsequently his uncle, Wilson Avasong, in Tamale.
Additional operations led to the arrest of other suspects, including Muntaru Iddrisu and Aminu Zebrilla, an ex-convict, for their roles in the sale of the stolen phone.
A search of Aminu Zebrilla’s room uncovered a cache of weapons, including a locally manufactured short gun and pistol, live BB cartridges, 5.56×44 CZ and revolver ammunition, a sword inscribed “Birdman,” a jack knife, a cutter, a catapult, and a face mask.
Officers also found dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a talisman, fifteen assorted mobile phones, seventeen wristwatches, five pen drives, several SIM cards believed to have been removed from stolen phones, and a jungle motorbike.
The items are believed to be linked to robbery activities under investigation.
