A Warrant Officer Class II of the Fourth Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces in the Ashanti Region, WO II David Kofi Brew, has been arrested over allegations that he supplied sophisticated weapons to criminal gangs operating in the region.
The arrest followed an undercover operation in which plain-clothed investigators posed as prospective buyers seeking to purchase weapons.
According to sources, Brew contacted the undercover team to confirm that the weapons were ready for collection and directed them to meet him at the Bekwai shell filling station.

Investigators say the suspect was arrested in the act of handing over the weapons to the supposed buyers for a negotiated sum of GH¢80,000. During interrogation, Brew allegedly admitted to selling weapons to individuals in and around Obuasi.
Security sources indicate that investigations have now widened, with authorities pursuing suspected accomplices believed to be part of criminal networks responsible for attacks and disturbances across parts of the Ashanti Region.
Officials say efforts are also underway to trace the origin and supply chain of the weapons, as investigators work to determine how the arms were obtained and distributed.
