Police arrest seven suspects, rescue 48 victims in Ho human trafficking bust

The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspected members of a human trafficking syndicate and rescued forty-eight victims in two separate intelligence-led operations in Ho, in the Volta Region.

The arrests were carried out on January 8 and 10, 2026, at Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction. The suspects have been identified as Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku.

According to the Police, the operations led to the rescue of forty-eight victims, most of whom are young adults and students. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were lured with promises of overseas travel and subsequently held under deceptive and coercive conditions.

Searches conducted at the various locations uncovered official receipts issued to victims after collecting monies under the pretext of securing visas for travel abroad, along with assorted documents linked to other fraudulent activities.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace the parents or relatives of the rescued victims and to arrest additional suspects believed to be connected to the trafficking syndicate and still at large.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks and protecting the public from fraudulent schemes and human trafficking activities across the country.
