The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a widely circulated video physically assaulting a woman, following swift investigations triggered by public outrage on social media.
The suspect, identified as Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, was arrested on Thursday, January 15, 2026, through an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police‘s Special Cyber Vetting Team under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect and the victim were previously cohabiting and had a history of disagreements.

These disputes reportedly escalated from verbal confrontations into repeated physical assaults, culminating in the incident captured on video.
Police say the arrest was made after the footage went viral, prompting rapid digital tracking and verification by the cyber team.
The suspect is currently in lawful custody and is expected to be arraigned before court to face charges in accordance with Ghanaian law.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives, enforcing the law, and dealing decisively with acts of violence, particularly cases involving domestic abuse.
The Service also encouraged the public to continue reporting crimes and sharing credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
The case has renewed calls for stronger action against domestic violence and the responsible use of social media to aid, rather than inflame, justice processes.
