The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a daylight armed robbery attack on a jewellery shop at Adabraka in Accra, during which GH₵7.5 million was stolen.
The arrest was carried out by the Police through the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector General of Police. The robbery occurred on 2 November 2024 and involved proceeds from a gold transaction that were being transported to a bank at the time of the attack.
Following months of intelligence-led operations, the suspect, identified as Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata, was arrested on 20 November 2025 at a hospital in Ashaiman, where he had gone to seek medical attention.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and his accomplices, who were armed with AK47 assault rifles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots to disperse members of the public. During the attack, the driver of the vehicle sustained injuries, after which the suspects fled with the cash.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations. Police say efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining accomplices and recover the stolen money.
The Ghana Police Service has appealed to the public to provide any credible information that may lead to the arrest of the other suspects by reporting to the nearest Police Station.
