According to investigators, when a victim, mostly women, boards the taxi, the suspects deliberately lock the doors to prevent the victim from alighting. While the victim struggles to open the door, the suspect seated at the back pretends to assist and allegedly steals the victim’s mobile phone or wallet.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, as efforts continue to identify and arrest individuals who receive and trade in the stolen items. The Police have reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety.
