The Accra Central Division Police Command has arrested a suspect on the Police wanted list during the Diaspora Summit 2025 held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
In a press release dated December 22, 2025 signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, and issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the Police said the arrest followed heightened security operations mounted at the summit after complaints from participants at previous events about theft of personal items, including mobile phones, iPads and credit cards.
According to the Police, on Friday, December 19, 2025, an undercover operation was carried out at the summit venue to enhance surveillance and ensure the safety of participants. During the operation, officers identified and arrested Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, also known as Morgan Addo, who is wanted for several stealing offences within the Accra Central Division.

The Police stated that the suspect was wearing an official summit tag and posing as a legitimate participant. He was unable to give a credible explanation for his presence at the event and was arrested and detained at the Ministries Police Station to assist with investigations.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly uses deceptive methods to steal ATM cards by creating difficulties for users at ATM points and later offering assistance, during which he swaps their cards.
The Police indicated that the suspect is believed to have withdrawn unspecified sums of money using stolen ATM cards at various locations. He is also suspected of stealing ATM cards and other valuables from participants’ bags and laptops during conference breaks.
Further investigations showed that the event organiser explained to the Police that registration for the Diaspora Summit 2025 was conducted online and open to the general public without restrictions, which enabled the suspect to register and gain access to the event.
The Police later escorted the suspect to his residence at Ashale Botwe, where a search led to the recovery of eight ATM cards belonging to different individuals. These included cards from GCB Bank, ABSA Bank, GT Bank and Fidelity Bank, bearing various names.
The recovered ATM cards have been retained as exhibits, and the Police said they will formally engage the respective banks to help trace the rightful owners to support ongoing investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property, especially during public gatherings and major events.
The Police advised the public to remain vigilant, closely monitor their personal belongings and promptly report any suspicious activity to the Police.
