The Asante Akropong District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District has remanded two friends into prison custody for allegedly stealing two Nissan Urvan buses from Akropong and Atwima Koforidua.
The accused Michael Ofosu, a 24-year-old conductor, and Grace Baidoo, a 21-year-old Mobile Money vendor, had their pleas not taken. They are expected to reappear before the court on November 26, 2025.
Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Wiafe Adu that the stolen vehicles belonged to two separate complainants.

In the first week of October, complainant Samuel Kankam reported to the Akropong Police that his Nissan Urvan bus (registration number GT 7940-Q), valued at GHS 90,000, had been stolen from the Akropong Goil Filling Station.
That same week, another complainant, Gideon Addo, also reported the theft of his Nissan Urvan (registration number AS 8321-19), valued at GHS 130,000, at Atwima Koforidua. Police subsequently launched investigations into both incidents.
According to the prosecution, mobile numbers belonging to the accused persons surfaced during the investigation. When the complainants contacted them, the duo allegedly admitted having possession of the vehicles and demanded money for their release.
Following intelligence-led operations, police arrested the suspects on November 10, 2025, from their hideout at Akitibobom near Mamponteng in the Kwabre East Municipality.
Inspector Agbekpornu informed the court that one of the stolen vehicles had since been retrieved at Mamponteng, and investigations were ongoing.
