The Upper West Regional Police Command says it has arrested suspects and retrieved service weapons stolen during an attack on officers in the Saawie community in the Jirapa Municipality.
According to a statement signed by DCOP Francis Yiribaaare, Regional Police Commander, Upper West Region, the command, about 30 youth confronted officers on 5 December, 2025 while they were conducting enquiries, seizing four service weapons and injuring the personnel involved.
Regional Police Commander DCOP Francis Yiribaaare, who led a reinforcement team, said all four weapons have been recovered, though efforts are still underway to retrieve two missing magazines.

He noted that nine suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted.
Police report that two injured officers have been treated and discharged, while another officer with a fractured arm has been referred to the Wa Regional Hospital.
The command condemned the attack and called on the public to support efforts to track down remaining suspects and locate the outstanding magazines.
