The court, presided over by Mrs Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong, a relief judge, also ordered the convict, Eric Oppong, to pay a fine of 250 penalty units (GHC3,000.00) and an additional GHC37,000.00 as compensation to the owner of the cables.
Oppong admitted to unlawfully entering the residence of Mr Richard Danso, damaging the electrical installations, and stealing the cables.
Police Chief Inspector Frederick Awuah-Ansah told the court that the complainant, Mr Derrick Segla, serves as caretaker of Mr Danso’s fenced, gated 10-bedroom storey building at Papaase. Mr Danso resides in the United Kingdom.

On October 10, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., Oppong allegedly entered the uncompleted second floor of the building, removed the wired electrical cables, and packed them into a white sack.
He was apprehended on the spot by the complainant with support from police officers.
He was taken to the Adjen Kotoku Police Station along with the stolen cables for investigation. Upon cautioning, Oppong confessed to the crime.
