The former Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to establish a comprehensive welfare data system for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if delegates endorse him as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
He said the initiative would ensure that the sacrifices and contributions of party members are properly recognised, rewarded, and compensated.
Dr Bawumia made the promise while addressing polling station officers, electoral area coordinators, and branch executives of the NPP in the Dormaa Central Constituency at Dormaa-Ahenkro, as part of his campaign tour of the Bono Region.

He was accompanied by Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, former Majority Leader; Nana Akomea, former Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC); and Mr Kwame Baffoe, Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Addressing a similar meeting at Wamfie in the Dormaa West Constituency, Dr Bawumia said the welfare data system would help the party address the needs and concerns of its members, which often lead to tensions and disagreements.
He explained that the system would help identify loyal members who have dedicated their efforts to the party’s growth and development, noting: “People have different needs, and you can’t track each member’s needs without a comprehensive data system.”
The former Vice President, who is touring the country to solicit support ahead of the NPP’s 2028 Presidential Primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, said each constituency’s electoral coordinator would serve as the welfare coordinator.
He also announced that his government would ensure that deserving members of the party gain employment opportunities, with quarterly reviews to identify members who remain jobless.
Dr Bawumia further indicated that ten appointments, including ministers, deputy ministers, chief executives of state institutions, ambassadors, and deputy ambassadors, would be made based on recommendations from a committee composed of polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, council of elders, and patrons.
