Ghana has congratulated President Mamady Doumbouya and the people of Guinea following the country’s peaceful democratic transition, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
In a message issued by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana expressed readiness to forge closer ties with Guinea as both countries build on their long-standing historical bond. He described the relationship as one rooted in brotherhood and shared political heritage.
The Minister recalled the extraordinary connection between Guinea’s first president, Ahmed Sékou Touré, and Ghana’s founding father, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He noted that following Nkrumah’s overthrow on 24th February 1966, he was welcomed into Guinea, where he served as Co-President, a gesture that cemented enduring ties between the two countries.
Hon. Ablakwa described Guinea’s transition as a watershed moment and wished the country success as it embarks on a new democratic journey. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to cooperation, mutual respect, and regional solidarity as Guinea moves forward.
The message underscores Ghana’s continued support for democratic governance, stability, and stronger partnerships across the West African sub-region.
