Member of Parliament , Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, received a high-level Japanese delegation led by Japan‘s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Kunimitsu Ayano, in a courtesy call aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between Ghana and Japan.
Addressing the delegation, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare highlighted Ghana’s economic recovery in 2025, citing improved macroeconomic stability, stronger agricultural performance, and renewed investor confidence. She expressed optimism about further growth in 2026 under the government’s Resetting for Growth, Jobs and Economic Transformation Agenda.
She reaffirmed government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and business-friendly environment and acknowledged the critical role of Japanese institutions such as JICA, JETRO, JO, and METI in supporting investment, technical cooperation, and private-sector development. The Minister encouraged deeper institutional engagement to further assist Japanese companies operating in Ghana.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare noted that Ghana remains an attractive investment destination, emphasizing its strategic position and access to a regional market of over 400 million consumers under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
She outlined priority areas for expanded cooperation, including MSME development through Kaizen productivity tools, manufacturing, agro-processing, and infrastructure development.
She also commended the contributions of more than 40 Japanese companies operating in Ghana, including Toyota Tsusho and Fuji Oil, for their role in technology transfer, job creation, and industrial growth.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Kunimitsu Ayano, accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yodhimoto, reaffirmed Japan’s strong commitment to Ghana’s development agenda.
She praised Ghana’s ongoing reforms and improving investment climate, noting growing interest among Japanese businesses to expand their presence in key sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
