The Minister for the Interior, acting on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has reviewed the curfew imposed on Nalerigu Township and its environs in the North East Region. The revised curfew will now run from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, effective Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Government has appealed to Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, the youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint amid the challenges confronting the community.
It urged the people to adopt non-violent means in expressing their concerns and to channel their energies toward efforts that promote peace and stability.

In addition to the revised curfew hours, authorities have imposed a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects or weapons within Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas. Security agencies have been directed to arrest and prosecute any person found in possession of such items.
Further restrictions have also been enforced to support the maintenance of law and order. These include a ban on the movement of motorbikes, the wearing of smocks, the sale of fuel in containers, and all forms of unlawful assembly within the affected areas.
The measures, government officials say, are aimed at restoring calm and preventing further escalation of tensions in the township and its environs.
