Attorney-General and Minister for Justice has disclosed that collaboration with United States authorities on matters relating to former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, began long before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) made its public announcement.
According to the Attorney-General, the engagement with US law enforcement and regulatory bodies forms part of ongoing efforts to pursue accountability in complex financial and corruption-related matters that have cross-border implications.
He explained that such cooperation is standard practice in cases involving international transactions and jurisdictions outside Ghana.

The Attorney-General clarified that the process did not start as a reaction to the OSP’s recent statements but was already underway through established legal and diplomatic channels.
He noted that investigations of this nature require discretion, patience, and coordination with foreign partners to ensure due process and compliance with international legal frameworks.
He further stressed that Ghana remains committed to fighting corruption through lawful means, adding that collaboration with international partners strengthens the country’s capacity to track financial flows, gather evidence, and enforce accountability where necessary.
The Attorney-General assured the public that all actions being taken are guided by the law and respect the rights of individuals involved. He urged Ghanaians to allow state institutions to carry out their mandates without undue pressure or speculation.
He reiterated government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that relevant updates will be provided at the appropriate time as investigations progress
