North Tongu District to celebrate 41st National Farmers’ Day with durbar at Alabonu D/A Basic School Park
The North Tongu District will celebrate the 41st National Farmers’ Day on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with a district durbar scheduled at the Alabonu D/A Basic School Park. The event is being held earlier than usual as the Volta Region hosts this year’s national celebration.
This year’s festivities are themed: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.” In a statement, District Chief Executive Mrs Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe extended an invitation to farmers, fisherfolk, traditional authorities, stakeholders, and residents to join the celebrations, which aim to honour the men and women sustaining the district’s food systems and contributing to economic growth.

Mrs Doe noted that the ceremony would be held in collaboration with Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, highlighting that their joint participation underscores the district’s dedication to recognising excellence in agriculture.
She emphasised the importance of celebrating the district’s “food heroes,” acknowledging their resilience and pivotal role in national development. The event will also feature awards to outstanding farmers and individuals who have excelled in various agricultural fields.
