He recalled that All Nations University became the first institution in Sub-Saharan Africa to design, build and launch a satellite, GhanaSat-1, developed by alumni Benjamin Bonsu, Joseph Quansah and Ernest Martey.
Prof. Donkor also highlighted the University’s impact on healthcare delivery, explaining that its Biomedical Engineering and Allied Health Science programmes, introduced in 2006, have produced graduates now serving in hospitals nationwide.
He noted that an alumna had recently established a Biomedical Department at the Presidential Hospital in Abuja, further extending the University’s influence beyond Ghana.
He cited the University’s partnerships with global institutions, including NASA, and its membership in the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Association of African Universities, as crucial in preparing students for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Sunil Thomas Chandy, former Director of the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, said private universities must be recognised as vital partners in expanding tertiary education access.
He argued that they help absorb the overflow of students and reduce pressure on government-funded institutions. Dr Chandy encouraged the graduands to embrace foresight, responsibility and a commitment to giving back to society.
