Mr. Kelvin Takando Ndolimor, named the 2025 overall best teacher in the Biakoye District MP’s Awards, has called on his colleagues to approach teaching with passion, seeing it as a calling rather than merely a job.
In an interview with the journalist, Mr. Ndolimor drew a parallel between teaching and security services, noting that just as security personnel accept postings in any location, teachers should be willing to serve wherever they are needed, whether in cities, towns, or remote villages.
“This is a calling, not just a job,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of dedication in the teaching profession.

Recounting his experience at Teviate D/A Basic School, a remote village school lacking electricity, portable water, and internet connectivity, Mr.
Ndolimor described the daily challenges of commuting on dusty, pothole-filled roads. Yet, together with his two colleagues, he remains committed to providing quality education, saying, “They are Ghanaians, and deserve better teachings.”
Miss Josephine Defor, another award-winning teacher, shared a similar story of dedication. She walks several kilometers daily to reach her students, carrying bottled water and food, but said her passion for teaching motivates her to overcome these hardships and ensure her pupils receive a quality education.
Both teachers expressed gratitude to the district education directorate and the Member of Parliament for instituting the award scheme, noting that recognition motivates them to continue making a difference in the lives of their students.
