The Ghana Education Service has condemned the alleged theft of food supplies intended for students of Awaso STEM Senior High School in the Western North Region following reports of the arrest of two staff members.
The individuals named are the school matron, Benedicta Nyamadi, and a cook, Rachel Kyeremateng.
In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations and issued from its headquarters in Accra on December 26, 2025, the Service stated that it does not condone misconduct, abuse of office, or any actions that undermine the welfare, nutrition, and wellbeing of students.

It stressed that the alleged act, if established, would be inconsistent with the ethical standards, professional conduct, and core values of the Service.
The Ghana Education Service confirmed that the matter is under investigation by the Ghana Police Service and said it is fully cooperating with all relevant state institutions to ensure due process.
It further assured parents, guardians, and the general public that monitoring mechanisms exist and that appropriate sanctions will be applied where lapses are identified, in line with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
