The Ghana Education Service (GES) has moved to clarify public discussions surrounding the 2025 WASSCE results, rejecting claims by former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum and reaffirming the integrity of the examination process.
In a statement issued on 1st December 2025, the GES said Dr Adutwum’s suggestion that students’ performance was linked to “unsupportive management practices” was inaccurate.
It stressed that no allowances due teachers had been cancelled, contrary to the former Minister’s assertions. The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, it noted, had already explained the reasons behind the non-payment of November allowances.

GES urged the public to disregard Dr Adutwum’s comments, describing them as an attempt to divert attention from his own shortcomings in managing the examination process.
According to the Service, the 2025 WASSCE results represent the true academic performance of candidates and provide a credible reflection of their abilities.
Ahead of the exams, the Ministry of Education and GES had issued strict directives that any teacher or official involved in aiding or abetting malpractice would face sanctions, measures that were fully enforced.
The examinations were conducted under heightened invigilation, strengthened supervision, and strict protocol adherence across all centres.
These measures, GES said, led to the apprehension of students and staff who would otherwise have engaged in malpractice, marking a continued effort to restore integrity to the assessment process.
GES described the outcome as evidence of progress toward a reliable examination system that protects the interests of students, schools, and the nation.
Looking ahead, the Service noted that Ghana is transitioning from the Ghana-only WASSCE to the international version taken by all West African member countries in May/June 2026.
It urged students to prepare adequately and reiterated that it would not compromise the integrity of examinations.
GES assured that it will continue working with school heads, teachers, students, parents, communities, CSOs, and WAEC to enhance teaching, learning, and examination integrity.
The statement was signed by Daniel FenyI, Head of Public Relations at GES
