Six job seekers have died, with several others injured, following a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra during the Ghana Armed Forces’ 2025/2026 recruitment exercise.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed in a statement that the tragedy occurred around 6:20 a.m. when an unexpected surge of applicants breached security protocols and forced their way through the gates ahead of the scheduled screening.
The injured are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, where medical teams are working to stabilise their condition. The GAF extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, assured the public that investigations into the incident are underway and that further updates would be provided in due course.
