Thousands of eager applicants converged at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Wednesday morning to participate in the Ghana Armed Forces‘ (GAF) ongoing 2025/2026 recruitment exercise.
More than 6,000 prospective recruits from the Central Region and other parts of the country arrived at the venue as early as dawn, all motivated by a shared desire to serve their nation.
Despite the huge turnout and the logistical challenges of managing such large numbers, the process proceeded smoothly under the supervision of senior GAF officers stationed at the stadium. The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed that order was largely maintained throughout the exercise.

While some applicants described the entry process as physically demanding due to crowd pressure, no serious incidents were reported. Minor disturbances, such as pushing and shoving, were quickly resolved by military personnel.
“It was tough getting inside with so many people, but I’m determined to push through. This is a chance to serve my country and build a future,” said 22-year-old applicant Kwame Mensah.
Another applicant, Ama Serwaa, 19, shared her mixed emotions: “The organisation is good, but with so many applicants, it gets overwhelming. I just hope the challenges don’t affect our chances. Still, I’m proud to be here.”
The Ghana Armed Forces announced earlier that documentation and physical selection for qualified candidates would take place from November 12 to 13, 2025, at designated screening centres nationwide.
This stage involves all shortlisted applicants who successfully completed the online application for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The recruitment exercise, which began on October 1, 2025, had its application deadline extended from October 31 to November 7 due to technical issues with the online portal.
According to GAF, the ongoing phase, known as attestation, includes final medical examinations and document verification. Applicants are required to present their application summary reports, original educational certificates, and birth certificates.
The nationwide exercise is being conducted across all 16 regional capitals to ensure equal opportunity and accessibility for qualified Ghanaians aspiring to join the Armed Forces.
