The Bono Regional Police Command is investigating a tragic fire outbreak that claimed the lives of a couple at Asuakwaa, a suburb of Sunyani, on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The deceased have been identified as Nana Ameyaw Ampofo, 65, and Grace Adu Boafoawaa, 49. Their charred bodies were recovered and deposited at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, according to a statement from Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
The police said they received a distress call about the fire and proceeded to the scene, where personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were already battling the blaze. A crime scene management team assessed the area and found that the entire building and its contents had been destroyed.

The charred bodies of the couple were recovered from the kitchen area, while a Toyota Hi ghlander and a pickup vehicle parked on the premises were partially damaged.
The statement indicated that the Bono Regional Police Command is working closely with the GNFS to determine the cause of the fire and assured the public that the results of the investigation would be made public once concluded.
