The Italian Embassy in Accra has marked the 10th edition of its signature culinary event, “Flavours of Italy,” as part of the global Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.
This year’s edition, themed “Italian Cuisine: Health, Culture and Innovation,” highlighted the Mediterranean diet’s health benefits and Italy’s rich tradition of culinary creativity.
Hosted by Madam Laura Ranalli, Italian Ambassador to Ghana, the celebration showcased Italy’s gastronomic heritage through a vibrant display of food, wine, and culture.

Madam Ranalli said the initiative, over its ten-year journey, had advanced not only gastronomy but also cultural identity and innovation.
She noted that Italian food and wine reflect Italy’s diverse landscapes, artistic heritage, and centuries-old traditions. “Gathering around the table is a universal way of bringing people and cultures together,” she said, calling for cultural collaboration to strengthen Ghana-Italy ties.
Mr. Luigi Puca, Italian Trade Commissioner for Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Niger, highlighted the growing demand for Italian food products in the region and urged deeper diplomatic and commercial relations between the two countries.
The event drew diplomats, government ministers, business leaders, media, and influencers, including Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education; Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister; and Mr. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, Mayor of Accra.
Mr. Iddrisu expressed gratitude for Italy’s support for technical and vocational education in Ghana, commending a €5 million grant for TVET reform and encouraging further Italian investment in education, manufacturing, and job creation.
Guests were treated to a rich spread of Italian culinary staples, including pizza, pasta, pastries, gelato, and more.
