The Appointments Committee of Parliament will on Monday, November 10, 2025, vet Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie for the position of Chief Justice.
According to information sighted by the Ghana News Agency in the Order Paper for the fifth sitting of the Third Meeting of Parliament on Tuesday, October 28, the vetting will take place at 11:00 hours at Parliament House in Accra.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, with his appointment subject to parliamentary approval as required by the Constitution. The vetting session will assess his qualifications, experience, and suitability for the country’s highest judicial office.

Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin, underscored the importance of the process in maintaining public trust in the Judiciary, stating, “We trust that this process will be carried out in accordance with the laws of our country.”
If approved, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie will succeed Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who was suspended and subsequently removed from office.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who has been acting as Chief Justice since April 2025, is widely respected for his extensive judicial career, having served at the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
