Six cocoa-growing communities in Ellembelle District connected to national electricity grid under rural electrification project

Six cocoa-growing communities in Aiyinasi-North, located in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, have been connected to the national electricity grid as part of the government’s ongoing Rural Electrification Project aimed at ensuring universal access to power.

The beneficiary communities of Abidjan, Santokrom, Asoredanho, Anloga, Dotsekrom, and New Adiembra officially joined the national grid during a commissioning ceremony led by Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle.

Speaking at the event, Mr Buah emphasised that no community should continue to live in darkness while waiting endlessly for government intervention. He described electricity access as a transformative experience that empowers people to create self-employment opportunities and improve their livelihoods.

He noted that electricity would enable residents to stay informed, connect with the wider world, and participate more actively in national development. In today’s technology-driven world, he said, electricity is not a luxury but a necessity.

Mr Buah further assured that every household within the newly connected communities would be fully wired to enjoy the service. He expressed appreciation to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and project contractors for their dedication in connecting the deprived communities to the grid.

He also urged unconnected communities to remain patient, revealing that plans were well underway to extend electricity to other parts of Ellembelle.

Nana Etwe Kpanyinli, Chief of Aiyinasi, lauded the MP for his unwavering commitment to ensuring every community in Ellembelle benefits from the national electrification drive. He said the initiative would stimulate small-scale enterprises, enhance local economic growth, and improve the living standards of residents.
