An investigation into the viral “ark” prophecy circulating on Ghanaian social media has revealed that the narrative created by TikTok personality Ebo Noah, also known as Ibono, is a deliberately crafted content strategy, not a divine warning or a real construction project.
The supposed ark in Elmina, which he claims will sail after a catastrophic three-year rain beginning on December 25th, has been confirmed by multiple on-site investigators and local fisherfolk as nothing more than an ordinary fishing boat.
Ebo Noah, who began his TikTok activity in 2023 under the name “Ibo Jesus,” is already known for creating skits and dramatic characters online.

The “Noah” persona emerged only after he visited Elmina in August and saw fishermen building boats by the shore. Investigators say that observation became the foundation for an improvised storyline that unexpectedly went viral.
In his first video on August 21st, Noah declared that he was the biblical Noah, that a devastating rain was coming, and that anyone who commented “I will go” would secure a place on the ark.
The clip ignited massive engagement, prompting him to deepen the character and escalate the fiction.
He later released additional footage showing the same fishing boat from different angles, changed his username from “Ibo Jesus” to “Noah,” and began posting random animal videos as supposed signs that “the animals are coming.
” He eventually adopted his now-signature sackcloth costume to fully immerse himself in the role.
However, several independent investigators who visited the Elmina site have debunked the claims. One video captures a man standing inside the vessel asserting.
“This is the exact ark that he said he’s building and this is not an ark it’s a boot it’s a fishing boat… a fishing boat.” Local fishermen have also insisted that they are building their own boats for their work, not for any prophetic mission.
Residents say Noah merely films around their boats and timber yards to create the illusion of construction.
One Elmina resident, who has produced about five videos countering the story, warns that the hoax is misleading young people, stressing, “it is not true there’s no act which is building for any kind of rain disaster.”
A review of Noah’s past activity reinforces his identity as a content creator rather than a prophet. In July 2023, he visited Adon Senior High School to film a skit involving a sick man, a fetish priest and a church.
Days later, he toured Elmina, capturing sights including St. Joseph’s Minor Basilica and the fishermen’s boatyard. He formally created his TikTok page on August 16th under the name “I says one,” with the username “Ibo Jesus.
” His earlier videos include light skits, such as one where he asks a stranger for a spray and drenches himself with it.
The arc of the ark narrative shows a clear progression: from a spontaneous idea after observing boat building, to a prophecy claim on August 21st, to character building as online engagement skyrocketed.
As views climbed, he committed more fully to the role, prompting heightened curiosity from the public. People began traveling to Elmina to verify the claims for themselves, leading to widespread debunking videos and interviews.
The trend has also sparked satirical spin-offs. A creator known as “serial” released a humorous video advertising a fictional “Arkfest” concert, announcing he would be “performing live in west ar[k]… on the 25th of December.”
The popular YouTuber known as the Headless YouTuber argues that the whole saga was obviously a joke from the start and says attempts to “expose” Noah miss the spirit of the viral moment.
He suggests that the ideal ending to the spectacle would be for Noah to make a surprise public appearance to theatrically proclaim that the flood has been cancelled.
The investigation concludes that the so-called ark is simply a regular fishing vessel, and the prophecy that surrounds it is nothing more than a well-executed social-media performance that has successfully captured national attention.
