Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, has applauded the Health Accounting Staff Association of Ghana (HASAG) for its pivotal role in promoting sound financial management, accountability, and transparency in the country’s health sector.
Delivering a speech on his behalf at the opening of HASAG’s 19th Annual General Congress in Sunyani, he acknowledged the association’s contributions to strengthening resource management across health institutions and supporting the broader growth of Ghana’s healthcare system.
He noted that health accounting professionals play an essential role in driving efficiency, and said their diligence and dedication were both recognised and appreciated.

The Minister encouraged members to continue upholding the values of integrity, honesty, neutrality, and accountability as they work to ensure prudent use of public resources.
Mr Akwaboa called for stronger collaboration, improved knowledge sharing, and more effective financial governance within the sector, emphasising that the government remained committed to improving the working conditions of health accounting officers.
He described HASAG’s commitment to a transparent and people-centred financing system as vital, saying their professionalism significantly enhances the delivery of quality healthcare.
He urged the association to continue adopting innovative approaches to detect risks and irregularities in order to safeguard the public purse.
The Minister further encouraged the group to maintain high ethical standards and deepen accountability mechanisms to ensure efficient utilisation of health sector funds.
Touching on government priorities, he highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen accountable health financing and expand primary healthcare infrastructure, pointing to the establishment of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) as a major intervention aimed at improving health service delivery nationwide.
