The Patbella Hope Foundation has donated medical equipment valued at more than GHS 70,000 to the National Radiotherapy, Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening cancer care and improving patient outcomes in Ghana.
The donated items include vein finders, Omron 907 blood pressure monitors, chemotherapy cool caps and kits, wheelchairs, and other medical supplies aimed at enhancing treatment efficiency and patient comfort within the oncology unit.
Ms Patricia Isabella Essel, Founder of the Foundation and a breast cancer survivor, explained that the initiative reflects the Foundation’s vision of “a world where every individual overcomes poverty and stigma through education, proactive healthcare, and economic independence.”

She added that its mission is to transform adversity into opportunity by empowering underprivileged individuals, disadvantaged women, and breast cancer survivors through education, health advocacy, and economic empowerment.
Sharing her personal journey, Ms Essel expressed deep gratitude to the medical personnel who supported her and to all partners who contributed to making the donation possible.
She urged the hospital to utilise the equipment effectively for the benefit of all cancer patients, particularly breast cancer survivors.
The Foundation also called on individuals, institutions, and philanthropic partners to support its scholarship programme for medical and oncology nursing students and broader community health interventions.
Ms Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti, an Oncology Nurse Specialist and 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award Winner, receiving the donation on behalf of the Department, thanked the Foundation, noting that the equipment would significantly strengthen service delivery and improve care for cancer patients.
