President Kiir commends Greater Pibor residents for maintaining peace

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has praised the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) for upholding peace within their communities and with neighbouring areas.

The President made the remarks in Juba on January 7, 2026, when he received a detailed briefing from the Chief Administrator of GPAA, Gola Boyoi Gola, on the current situation in the area.

According to Mr. Gola, authorities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area have been actively engaging the youth to promote peaceful coexistence among the various communities. He said these engagements have contributed significantly to the calm currently prevailing in the area.

Touching on national elections, the Chief Administrator indicated that the people of GPAA are ready for the upcoming polls scheduled for December this year. He noted that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth conduct of the elections when the time comes.

Mr. Gola also highlighted the area’s natural resource potential, describing GPAA as rich in mineral resources. He appealed to the national government to invest in and promote mining activities in the area as a means of boosting economic growth and contributing to national development.

President Kiir’s commendation, the Chief Administrator said, serves as encouragement for the people of Greater Pibor to continue working together to sustain peace and stability.
