The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure development and strict enforcement of sanitation regulations as part of efforts to improve living conditions across the metropolis.
On Wednesday, 21st January 2026, the Mayor undertook an inspection of major ongoing road projects, including the Santasi Roundabout-Bekwai Roundabout stretch and the Asokwa Interchange-Ahodwo Roundabout corridor.
The Santasi-Bekwai road, which had been abandoned for about six months, has resumed following the release of government funds. Engineers on site indicated that both road projects are expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.

Works on the Asokwa Interchange-Ahodwo Roundabout stretch, which began in December 2025, are also progressing steadily.
When completed, the projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance economic activities, and improve emergency access to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Mayor commended contractors for the progress made so far and urged them to strictly adhere to project timelines, assuring them of the Assembly’s readiness to address any challenges that may arise.
He also called on occupants along the Asokwa-Ahodwo corridor to cooperate fully with ongoing evacuations to allow uninterrupted construction work.
Earlier, the Mayor also led an inspection exercise at Krobo Odumase (K.O), where serious sanitation lapses were identified.
The inspection revealed that filth and liquid waste from commercial activities were being discharged directly into drains, contributing to frequent flooding in the area.
As part of enforcement measures, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly served sanitation abatement notices on eight individuals and businesses, including Alpha and Omega Chop Bar, for operating under unsanitary conditions.
The affected operators have been directed to take immediate steps to meet approved environmental and public health standards.
The Mayor cautioned food vendors and business owners that the Assembly will not hesitate to apply sanctions against anyone who flouts sanitation regulations.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly reiterated its commitment to building a cleaner, safer, and better-connected city and encouraged residents and businesses to support these initiatives in the interest of collective development.
