The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament has sharply criticised the government’s 2026 Budget, describing it as a “litany of initiatives they do not intend to implement” and accusing Finance Minister Dr Ato Forson of engaging in “fiscal deception.”
Speaking at a press conference at Parliament House on Friday, Dr Amin Adam, Ranking Member on the Finance Committee and NPP MP for Karaga, said the budget, presented under the theme “Resetting for Growth, Jobs, and Economic Transformation,” builds on macroeconomic stability initiated under the NPP government.
Dr Adam questioned the government’s fiscal discipline, citing under-execution of growth-enhancing public investments.

He also criticised the government’s revenue policies, describing them as unrealistic and ignoring the Minority Caucus’s input. “The data in the 2026 budget has, however, vindicated our stand,” he added, accusing the administration of focusing on liquidity symptoms rather than addressing structural weaknesses in revenue and debt management.
