The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has awarded a number of development projects under the District Assemblies Common Fund for the 2025/2026 fiscal period, aimed at improving infrastructure and service delivery across communities in the municipality.
The projects, which cut across roads, education, health, water and sanitation, and public administration, are intended to address key development needs within the Obuasi West Constituency and surrounding areas.
Road infrastructure works include the pavement of the New Nsuta Road and pavement works at the frontage of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly.

In the education sector, projects awarded include the construction of a three-unit classroom block with an office and laboratory at Nhyiaeso; renovation of a kindergarten block and construction of an eight-seater WC toilet at Presby School.
Rehabilitation of an eight-unit classroom block with two offices and construction of a three-unit canteen block at Awurade Basa MA Primary School.
Completion of a two-unit classroom block and an eight-seater WC toilet at Bediiem School; completion of a three-unit classroom block at Anwoma; construction of a six-unit classroom block for Anglican School; and the construction of a library for the KNUST Obuasi Campus.
Health infrastructure projects include the expansion of the Kunkah Health Centre, comprising the construction of a security post and a maternity ward.
Several water and sanitation projects have also been awarded. These include the drilling and mechanisation of boreholes with polytank or pipe stand facilities at Awurade Basa, Bedieso, Antobuasi, Anwoma and Memeriwa .
No. 1, as well as the rehabilitation and mechanisation of existing boreholes at Kulem and Railway. Additional sanitation works include the construction of an eight-seater WC toilet at Bediiem School.
The Assembly has encouraged residents to take interest in the implementation of the projects and to support efforts to ensure accountability and effective use of public funds allocated through the Common Fund.
