The Ghana Energy Awards (GEA) Secretariat has received over 300 nominations ahead of the October 31, 2025, deadline, describing the response as “overwhelming” and a departure from previous years’ last-minute submissions.
“This year has seen a noticeable shift, with a good number of nominations coming in earlier than expected. This reflects stronger engagement and a growing sense of ownership among industry players,” the Secretariat stated in a release from Accra.
Nominations opened on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, inviting entries from individuals, companies, and institutions across the energy value chain. Now in its ninth year, the GEA aims to recognise excellence, innovation, and leadership within Ghana’s energy sector.
This year’s edition, themed “Repositioning the Energy Sector as a Pillar of National Development,” features 26 competitive categories spanning the power and petroleum sub-sectors, with newly introduced categories reflecting emerging industry trends and broadening participation.

The Awards are endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, allied agencies, and the World Energy Council – Ghana.
The Secretariat confirmed that site verification visits are currently underway and will continue until November 15, 2025, forming a crucial part of the verification framework to assess nominated projects and initiatives firsthand.
“This evidence-based approach has become a hallmark of the Awards’ credibility and commitment to transparency,” the statement noted.
Prospective nominees who have yet to submit entries were reminded to do so before the deadline, as no extensions will be granted.
