Standard Bank Group, parent company of Stanbic Bank Ghana and the largest financial institution in Africa by assets, has formally launched its Representative Office in Egypt during a ceremony held at the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo.
The new office is expected to significantly strengthen trade and investment links between Egypt, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East, recognising Egypt’s strategic importance as a gateway along the continent’s north–south trade corridor.
Sim Tshabalala, Chief Executive of Standard Bank Group, said the move reflects confidence in Egypt’s rising influence as an investment and logistics hub aligned with both Egypt’s Vision 2030 and Africa’s development goals.

He noted that the office will connect Egyptian corporates, investors, and multinationals with opportunities across the Group’s presence in 21 African countries.
Through the office, Standard Bank aims to advance its mission of driving Africa’s growth by supporting Egyptian firms expanding across the continent and enabling global investors to tap into Egypt’s dynamic economy.
Luvuyo Masinda, Chief Executive of Corporate and Investment Banking, highlighted that the on-ground presence will promote stronger financial cooperation and deliver market intelligence to clients operating between Egypt, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Group’s international hubs in Dubai, Beijing, New York, and London.
He described the launch as a milestone that accelerates regional integration and unlocks sustainable continental growth.
Dr Rassem Zok, Chief Executive MENA and Chief Representative Officer for the Egypt Office, emphasised Standard Bank’s 163-year history of linking Africa to global markets.

The Egypt Representative Office expands Standard Bank’s broader MENA strategy, which began in the UAE in 1997 and includes over two decades of operations at the Dubai International Finance Centre.
