Naba Tambis Baalug, Paramount Chief of Pusiga, led the delegation for the Bawku Naaba Zugraan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II and the Kusasi people.
The groups included chiefs, lawyers, academics, opinion leaders, and youth leaders. Hon. Cletus Avoka served as spokesperson for the Kusasi delegation, while Dr Issah spoke for the Naayiri and the Mamprusis.
After months of separate deliberations with each group, the Asantehene brought both sides together to speak directly to one another in a final effort to chart a path toward lasting peace in the Bawku traditional area.
The engagement was described as cordial, with both sides reaffirming that they are one people with no cause to be in conflict.
His Majesty thanked the delegations for their maturity and urged them to prepare their supporters to embrace peace and end all forms of violence and disorder. He stressed that, regardless of the outcome of the mediation, both sides must continue to coexist as brothers and sisters.
The Asantehene announced that he will submit his report, including his proposals, to President John Dramani Mahama in the coming days, expressing hope that the President will act swiftly and convene a formal meeting of all stakeholders to communicate the outcome of the mediation.
