In a statement signed by Mr Kofi Adu Domfe, Regional Chairman, the Association extended full solidarity to the affected journalists, their families, and media organisations, noting that the incident underscores the inherent risks journalists face in pursuing public interest reporting, particularly on galamsey and other high-risk assignments.

The GJA regional leadership affirmed its unwavering support for the affected journalists, engaging relevant authorities to ensure they receive necessary medical care and emotional support.
The statement emphasised the importance of prioritising journalist safety during field operations and called on institutions engaging the media in high-risk areas to strictly follow safety protocols, maintain proper coordination, and ensure preparedness at all times.
The Association reiterated its commitment to supporting colleagues during this difficult period, stressing that the watchdog role of journalists in highlighting environmental and social challenges must not come at the expense of their well-being.
