The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has officially launched the Ashanti Trade Expo 2026, describing it as a flagship economic initiative aimed at accelerating trade, industrialisation, and investment across the region.

The Expo, which forms a core component of the broader AshantiFest 2026 programme, is scheduled to take place from 5th to 12th April, 2026.

Ahead of the main event, a series of district-level mini expos will be organised across the Ashanti Region to promote inclusiveness, grassroots participation, and the identification of local enterprises and investment-ready opportunities.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Amoakohene acknowledged the strong support of President John Dramani Mahama, as well as the Ministers for Trade and Industry and Tourism, Arts and Culture, noting that their leadership continues to drive Ghana‘s agenda for industrial growth, trade expansion, and tourism development.

On behalf of government, the Regional Minister reaffirmed a firm commitment to completing the Boankra Inland Port and its associated Industrial Park, projects that have stalled due to land litigation.

He assured stakeholders that government remains resolute in resolving these challenges to unlock the full economic potential of the strategic national asset.

Dr. Amoakohene further revealed that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have been tasked to identify suitable lands for the development of industrial parks aligned with their unique economic strengths.

According to him, this decentralised approach will promote balanced regional growth, local value addition, and sustainable job creation.

He also welcomed a proposal for the establishment of a Car Mall, envisioned as a large-scale industrial park that will help decongest Kumasi, address the uncontrolled spread of car garages, and create an organised, modern, and environmentally responsible automotive hub.

By integrating the Ashanti Trade Expo with AshantiFest, Dr. Amoakohene said the region is deliberately aligning culture with commerce and heritage with enterprise, positioning Ashanti as a competitive destination for business and investment.

“The Ashanti Region remains open for business, open to partnerships, and open to bold ideas that will drive shared prosperity,” he stated, calling on stakeholders to work together to make Ashanti Trade Expo 2026 a catalyst for sustainable economic transformation.

He concluded by urging collective commitment to the success of the Expo and reaffirmed government’s determination to harness the region’s full economic potential for the benefit of its people and the nation at large.
