The Assemblies of God, Ghana, has debunked a fake statement circulating on social media and falsely attributed to its General Superintendent, Reverend Stephen Wengam, regarding Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/questioning (LGBTQ) matters.
In an official statement, the Church clarified that neither the Assemblies of God, Ghana, nor Rev. Wengam had issued any such comment.
“This circulating post is fake and should be disregarded. The Assemblies of God, Ghana, and our General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Wengam, have not made any such statement,” the Church stated.

The statement further urged the public to help combat misinformation online. “Kindly ignore and help us report false information when you see it. Truth matters,” it added.
