Commodore Francis Ayiteyvi Nyarko, National Coordinator for the Marine Police Unit, commended participants for their unity and enthusiasm, noting, “This morning’s walk is not just about fitness but a show of solidarity for a more inclusive and gender-responsive security service.”
He highlighted GAF’s progress in mainstreaming gender perspectives through initiatives such as the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) Partnership, the GAF Gender Policy, and participation in UN peacekeeping operations, while acknowledging that more work remains.
Commodore Nyarko expressed gratitude to Global Affairs Canada and the Elsie Initiative Fund for supporting gender reforms, stating, “A healthy force is a ready force, ready to serve, protect, and uphold equality and peace.”
Chief Superintendent of Prisons Mabel Ngobe, representing the participating agencies, thanked the GAF for involving other services in the celebrations and called for continued collaboration to promote unity and peace.
