Fire guts Sofoline Magazine area in overnight blaze

A fire outbreak was recorded last night at Sofoline Magazine, causing extensive damage to property and throwing the area into panic as residents and commuters struggled to contain the situation.

Eyewitnesses say the fire started late in the night and spread rapidly through shops and structures in the Sofoline Magazine enclave, fueled by combustible materials and the close proximity of buildings.

Thick smoke filled the area as traders and residents rushed to salvage their belongings.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were deployed to the scene after distress calls were placed. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the inferno under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby residential buildings and businesses.

Although the full extent of damage is yet to be officially assessed, several shops and properties were reportedly destroyed. Some traders are believed to have lost goods worth thousands of cedis in the blaze.

No fatalities have been officially confirmed as at the time of filing this report, but some individuals reportedly sustained minor injuries while attempting to rescue items from the burning structures.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations have been launched by the Fire Service to determine its origin. Authorities have also urged the public to remain cautious, especially during the dry season, and to adhere strictly to fire safety measures.

Residents and traders affected by the incident have appealed for support as they begin the difficult process of recovery following the devastating fire.
