Ghana Armed Forces opens 2025/2026 intake for Army, Navy, and Air Force careers with strict eligibility requirements

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially opened applications for its 2025/2026 intake into the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), inviting qualified Ghanaians to pursue careers across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Prospective candidates have until Wednesday, December 24, 2025, to submit online applications.

The recruitment drive targets highly skilled individuals for both combat and specialist officer roles. Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens by birth, of good character, medically fit, and able to pass a pre-joining fitness assessment.

Those applying for the Regular Officer Cadet course must be unmarried, not bonded, and aged between 18 and 26 by March 31, 2026. Minimum height requirements are 1.68m for males and 1.60m for females, with higher standards for specialist units like the Military Police.

Academic qualifications emphasise STEM subjects and verifiable results. Candidates must hold six credits at BECE, WASSCE, or SSSCE, including English, Mathematics, and Science. Specialist roles generally require a first degree of at least Second Class Lower from an accredited institution, with original certificates mandatory.

Career paths span a wide range of technical and operational areas.

The Ghana Army is recruiting across infantry, artillery, engineering, signals, logistics, education, public relations, and other fields.

The Navy is seeking candidates for executive, technical, supply, and maritime-related roles.

The Air Force is recruiting for operations, engineering, aviation, and technical specialisations, with holders of CPL or ATPL licences at a competitive advantage.

Healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, and allied health specialists, are also invited to apply, with age limits between 30 and 40 years. Religious officers, including chaplains and imams, must hold a relevant degree, possess formal ordination or recognised authority, and demonstrate pastoral experience.

Applicants must purchase an electronic voucher for GH₵250 from designated Post Offices to access the online application portal. The GAF has urged all candidates to carefully follow submission guidelines before the closing deadline on December 24, 2025.
