The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their exceptional professionalism and outstanding performance in key security operations.
The promotions, announced on January 27, 2026, were awarded to officers whose efforts led to major operational successes in separate incidents across the country.
These included the interception of ten wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GH¢1,032,650.00, along with sacks of other suspected narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.

In another operation, officers on routine patrol at Jacobu successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight rounds of live AAA ammunition, averting potential threats to public safety.
Congratulating the officers, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), praised their discipline, courage, and commitment to duty, describing their actions as a clear demonstration of the core values of the Ghana Police Service.
Mr. Yohuno urged the promoted officers to see their elevation not merely as a reward, but as a call to greater responsibility and higher standards of service.
He further encouraged all personnel to remain diligent and professional, reiterating that excellence, integrity, and dedication remain the key criteria for recognition and advancement within the Service.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to motivating officers who distinguish themselves in the fight against crime and in the protection of lives and property across the country.
